The Ababda Bedouin have lived in the Eastern Sahara for centuries, navigating the desert routes between the Nile and the Red Sea long before either was paved. At their Tondoba camp, fourteen kilometres south of Marsa Alam's coast, they host travellers for an afternoon and evening that traces the old rhythms of desert life — sweet tea on arrival, a walk to the natural water well, baking bread in the earth oven, a short camel ride, sunset over the meteor site, and dinner around a low table while a traditional show unfolds. This is a curated cultural visit, not a theme park. The hosts are real, the bread is real, the camels rest between rides. We add the modern adventure elements with care: a thirty-minute beach-buggy session as the light fades, and a 4x4 drive out to the camp itself.
