Overview
Sharm El Loli — known to marine biologists as Ras Hankorab — sits inside the Wadi El Gemal National Park, a protected stretch of coastline of remarkable white-sand beaches and uncrowded reef. Qulaan, fifteen minutes further south, is one of the few mangrove ecosystems in the Egyptian Red Sea: a warm, shallow lagoon edged by salt-tolerant trees that shelter juvenile fish, herons, and migratory waders. This is a slow, restorative day rather than a packed itinerary. You snorkel in the morning where the reef meets sandy shallows; you cross to Qulaan for an unhurried Bedouin lunch in a tented camp at the lagoon edge; you have the afternoon to swim, walk the sand, or simply read in the shade of the mangroves. The park is a strictly protected area. We follow the regulations on litter, fire, and reef contact, and we ask that guests do the same.
